Johnny wants an electric guitar for Christmas--with an amp. He wanted a Batman car last year (and got one--a lego-sized small version that he's hardly touched in the last eleven months). If he does get one, I'll make sure it's from us and not from Santa--I don't want Santa to peak too early, ya know. Not surprisingly, I'm sure, I'm leaning towards "not." But there is a part of David and me that likes Johnny's declaration that he's not getting his hair cut--even his bangs that are in his eyes--because rock stars have long hair. Like, maybe he was born with a genetic coolness that passed us by and he's destined to perform on stage during the Super Bowl half-time shows rather than tooting in the marching band like me.
Four may be a little young to indulge in such an expensive and loud Christmas wish---but you have to wonder, how many of these guys (and even a few gals) got their start before entering Kindergarten?

Not getting it for him might actually increase his desire to rock and give him something to rebel against (parental authority). So if you want to see him play Super Bowl Halftime shows, maybe you shouldn't get it for him.
Of course, another option would be to get him Guitar Hero which would probably be more fun than an actual guitar for him. But you would also have to get either an Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or a Wii to play it. Which is probably way more expensive than a guitar and an amp.
You get him that guitar! You get him whatever he needs to lead the revolution!!!
Because in high school, when he's leading his band Johnny Qwest 2, then you and David can sit back and say...F Kevin Alexander...F!!! Kevin Alexander!!!
Merry xmass and i say get it for him. (You can get some headphones too for him to listen through the amp...or try a pigs nose amp. It is small and can even run on batteries)
I'm torn. If he keeps acting like he did last night, he ain't gettin jack shit, save a good ol lump-o-coal. Maybe Granddabs should get it for him, not us. Or maybe Granddabs should get him a mini drum set so J can grow up to be just like him.
